Police Operation in Mar del Plata Against Irregularities

The Federal Police, in cooperation with the General Inspection of the Municipality of General Pueyrredón, conducted an operation that resulted in the seizure of more than a ton of goods from the Government of the Province of Buenos Aires, which is suspected to have been distributed irregularly. Mayor Guillermo Montenegro stated: "We will request the judge to distribute it among the institutions that truly work with vulnerable people."

During the raid carried out in Mar del Plata by the Special Investigations Operational Unit in conjunction with the municipal General Inspection, it was found that those responsible for the stockpiling could not justify the possession of that amount of food. Therefore, the goods were made available to the Justice to determine their destination.

Montenegro expressed his concern about the irregular use of public resources intended for social assistance, ensuring that they will work in collaboration with the Municipality to guarantee that these foods reach those who truly need them, after going through the corresponding certification from Food Safety. The mayor emphasized the importance of transparency in distribution and the prevention of the misuse of public funds.

During the inspection, it was discovered that non-perishable foods assigned to a non-existent cooperative were found in a residence in Mar del Plata. The procedure, framed within case number 7186/2024, was carried out with the aim of clarifying the situation and ensuring that the assistance is properly allocated. Montenegro stressed the need for clarity on these issues to prevent the exploitation of the needs of the population, squandering the available resources for social assistance.
